About The Position

The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) is seeking applications for a Certified Athletic Trainer to assist with the Women's Basketball program. The NAAA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and financing the varsity athletic programs of the United States Naval Academy, providing opportunities for midshipmen to compete at the Division I level and emphasizing physical fitness as a core component of their development.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Athletic Training required.
  • Board of Certification (BOC) Certified and in good standing is required.
  • Current or immediate eligibility for Maryland State licensure is required.
  • Follows the Board of Certification (BOC) Standards of Professional Practice, NATA Code of Ethics, and the State Practice Act.
  • Ability to perform standard acts of utilizing a computer.
  • Utilization of Electronic Medical Records.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States of America, without sponsorship.
  • Must be eligible to work on a military installation, including a willingness to submit to a background screen.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 2-7 years of post-graduate experience at the collegiate or professional level.

Responsibilities

  • Practicing sports medicine care to all student athletes as needed.
  • Daily operation and maintenance of the sports medicine facilities.
  • Daily practice coverage and travel with the assigned team.
  • Performing administrative duties.
  • Facilitating day-to-day operations of a training room.
  • Maintaining proper inventory and usage of supplies.
  • Maintaining equipment and ensuring that modalities are in proper working order.
  • Assessing, rehabilitates, and preventing student-athlete injuries in coordination with a team physician or medical professional on the care team.
  • Providing injury reports to assigned coaches, supervisor, and team physician as directed by the supervisor.
  • Consulting with the team physician and other medical professionals within a care team to assess a student-athlete's status for competition due to injury.
  • Maintaining a respectful working relationship with all health professionals involved with the care of the student-athletes.
  • Maintaining health/injury records on student-athletes associated with your assigned sport coverage.
  • Administering appropriate first aid and other medical care as deemed necessary to fulfill one's duties.
  • Maintaining requirements to retain one's Board Certification and Licensure.
  • Mentorship of the Athletic Training Intern(s) reporting to an assigned facility or area.
  • Serving as a staff member of a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) -sanctioned athletics program, and understanding that NCAA rules and regulations must be followed and strictly adhered to.
  • Adhering to rules and regulations put forth by Conference Affiliates.
