About The Position

Visiting Angels of Kansas City is hiring At Home Caregivers to serve clients throughout the Kansas City Metro area, including Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri, Overland Park, Olathe, Leawood, and Shawnee. Caregivers enrich clients’ quality of life and support their wellness in accordance with customized care plans. Duties may include personal care and hygiene, light exercise and walks, meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, medication reminders, mobility assistance, and accompanying clients on appointments, errands, or shopping trips. Caregivers report health changes or unusual incidents and respond responsibly in emergencies. Advanced training opportunities in areas such as dementia and Alzheimer’s care are available.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Training in First Aid and emergency response; training is provided if needed.
Excellent time-management skills and ability to manage multiple duties at once.
Reliable transportation to and from client homes at scheduled care times.
Physical endurance to carry groceries and physically support a client.
Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to dietary constraints.
Willingness and ability to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards, including a background check.
Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten each client’s day.

Nice To Haves

Interest in advanced training in dementia care and/or Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Assist clients with light physical exercise or walks.
Plan and prepare meals with clients while following applicable dietary constraints.
Handle light housekeeping duties.
Report health changes or unusual incidents.
Provide pleasant, supportive companionship.
Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
Accompany and supervise clients during shopping trips, appointments, and errands.
Remind clients to take prescription medications appropriately.
Assist with mobility and ambulation at home and during appointments or errands.
