About The Position

BDO is seeking an energetic, self-starting Assurance Intern to support its dynamic client base. The intern will apply their educational background and organizational skills while assisting with problem-solving and fact-finding alongside experienced team members. The role offers hands-on exposure to the firm’s practices and people, as well as opportunities for coaching, learning, and building professional relationships.

The intern will participate in on-the-job training and become familiar with accounting principles, auditing standards, and BDO’s audit methodology. They will support audit engagements, document work using BDO tools and templates, communicate with client-related parties about audit issues, and complete an accounting- or audit-related research project to present to Assurance professionals.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Accounting.
• Actively pursue school credits to become a CPA.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be able to follow instructions as directed.
• Be able to work effectively in a team setting.
• Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

• Pursuing a master’s degree in Accounting.
• Leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program and become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
• Become familiar with BDO-specific audit methodology and assist with various stages of the audit process.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
• Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Prepare and document work in working papers using BDO-specific tools and templates.
• Contribute ideas and opinions to audit teams and listen and respond to other team members’ views.
• Complete an assigned accounting- or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
• Perform other duties as required.
