About The Position

The Assurance Intern works with large and small companies across various industries and participates in multiple team engagements each year, contributing to several parts of assignments. Interns build client relationships by understanding clients’ businesses and challenges and work in a mutually respectful team environment. The role involves learning RSM’s audit approach and tools, assessing risks and internal controls, conducting audit tests, and drafting financial statements. Travel to assigned client locations is required.

Requirements

• Complete at least 90 credit hours.
• Be working toward a B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
• Have an accounting major.
• Have access to and the ability to arrange reliable transportation to assigned client locations.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand clients’ needs and expectations, businesses and industries, accounting and control systems, employees, company values, and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues.
• Develop an understanding of the RSM audit approach and tools.
• Assess risks and evaluate clients’ internal control structures.
• Perform substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues.
• Draft financial statements under prescribed formats.
• Travel to assigned client locations.
