About The Position

As an Intern in BDO’s Assurance practice, you will use your educational background and organizational skills while serving the firm’s clients. You will assist with problem-solving and fact-finding alongside experienced team members who provide direction, coaching, and learning opportunities. The internship offers hands-on exposure to the firm’s practices and people and an opportunity to build professional relationships.

The role includes structured on-the-job training in accounting and auditing standards and BDO’s audit methodology. Interns support audit engagements, document work using BDO tools and templates, communicate with parties related to audit issues, and complete and present an accounting- or audit-related research project.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Accounting.
• Actively pursue school credits to become a CPA.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be able to follow instructions as directed.
• Be able to work effectively in a team setting.
• Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

• Be pursuing a master’s degree in Accounting.
• Have leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program and become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
• Become familiar with BDO’s audit methodology and assist with various stages of the audit process.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
• Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Prepare and document work in working papers using BDO tools and templates.
• Contribute ideas and opinions to audit teams and listen and respond to other team members’ views.
• Complete an assigned accounting- or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
• Perform other duties as required.
