About The Position
RSM’s Assurance Intern works with large and small companies across various industries, building client relationships through an understanding of their businesses and challenges. Interns contribute to multiple team engagements each year and may work on several parts of an assignment. The role involves learning RSM’s audit approach and tools, assessing risks and internal controls, performing audit tests, and helping prepare financial statements. Travel to assigned client locations is required.
Requirements
- Complete 90 credit hours.
- Be working toward a B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Have an accounting major.
- Have access to and be able to arrange reliable transportation to assigned client locations.
Nice To Haves
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Understand clients’ needs and expectations, businesses and industries, accounting and control systems, employees, company values, and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues.
- Develop an understanding of RSM’s audit approach and tools.
- Assess risks and evaluate clients’ internal control structures.
- Perform substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues.
- Draft financial statements under prescribed formats.
- Travel to assigned client locations.
