About The Position

This position directly influences financial results. This position includes managing ~$1 billion of interest expense on the PSEG income statement, and a debt portfolio of ~$23 billion. Establishes and executes the company's long-term financing plan to support growth objectives of a $22.5 - $26 billion capital plan over a 5 year period. Make strategic recommendations to management about financing strategies including interest rate hedging in order to minimize interest rate risk and volatility, drive predictability of earnings, and achieve earnings guidance. Maintain a solid balance sheet with strong investment grade credit ratings. Recommend and implement optimal capital structure alternatives, such as debt financing, balancing how these decisions have financial, credit metric and credit rating implications. Frequent communication with various levels of management and internal stakeholders, and the cultivation of strong relationships with the 17 banks in our bank group, rating agencies, insurance brokers, and others. Oversee PSEG's insurance programs with annual premiums of ~$30+ million that are associated with enterprise top risks and that protect the company's balance sheet. Through insurance, mitigate risk associated with growth initiatives, commercial development projects, and critical initiatives. Monitor and ensure compliance with SEC disclosures, covenant and SOX/audit compliance. Create updates for Finance Committee and investor presentations, and regulatory support.

Requirements

  • MBA or CPA or MS Economics/Finance, or related degree
  • Minimum of 10 years or more of treasury, financial, or planning experience
  • Demonstrated strong financial and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of financial statements including cash flow
  • Demonstrated excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to synthesize information into management presentations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with internal / external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of corporate finance, capital markets, and credit ratings
  • Extensive knowledge of cash forecasting and liquidity management

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital structure of PSEG and subsidiaries including debt/equity mix, target credit metrics, fixed/floating rate debt, debt maturity profile.
  • Manage debt and interest rate risk, which include ~$23B of outstanding long-term debt and ~$1B of interest expense.
  • Oversee treasury planning and reporting including Finance Committee updates, monthly treasury report, corporate model updates, investor materials, and other management presentations as well as regulatory support for rate cases, program filings, and BPU financing petition.
  • Oversee PSEG's insurance programs that are associated with enterprise top risks and that protect the company's balance sheet.
  • Mitigate risk associated with growth initiatives, commercial development projects, and critical initiatives.
  • Strategic communication with credit rating agencies to present the company's business and financial profile.
  • Understand rating agency methodologies/views and apply to PSEG’s business/financial planning process.
  • Identify risks that could negatively affect the company's credit rating and strategies maintain creditworthiness.
  • Recommend and implement financing plans and optimal capital structure alternatives to support PSEG's $22.5B - $26B five-year capital plans and corporate development activities.
  • Cultivate and manage strong relationships with banks, rating agengies, and insurance brokers.
