About The Position

This role actively participates in, trains, and mentors food service department crew members to enthusiastically demonstrate, educate, and sell in-store delicatessen products. The position involves preparing delicatessen products for sale, including creating fresh salads and entrées, slicing meat and cheese, frying and roasting chicken, and packaging, pricing, labeling, and merchandising products according to established department and company policies and procedures. The role also assists with leadership to food service department crew members, including planning and assigning work, conducting coaching sessions, administering discipline, providing training, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Daily team huddles are conducted to communicate sales goals and reinforce guest service expectations. The position assists with writing and placing orders for products and supplies, checking in orders, and stocking and organizing dry storage and coolers. It also involves writing daily plans and weekly work schedules, ensuring rotation of merchandise and maintenance of displays to meet freshness guarantees. Coordination of validation, item authorization, sign making, and POS maintenance for the food service department is also a responsibility. The role ensures displays are properly stocked, maintains accurate records for damaged/spoiled merchandise, and complies with all food and workplace safety rules and regulations. Maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the work area and equipment is crucial. The position requires acquiring product knowledge within all departments to respond to guest questions and provide information about merchandise, staying updated on weekly specials, coupons, and promotions. A team-oriented work environment that inspires collaboration and cooperation is expected. The store is open seven days a week, and the role may require weekend, holiday, and shift work.

Requirements

Department operations experience or equivalent education to be knowledgeable of the nature of every position within the department.
Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the department including willingness to taste and evaluate delicatessen products.
Ability to follow instructions and procedures for proper handling of knives and other food service equipment.
Strong work ethic with ability to follow instructions and procedures applying effective time management skills.
Math skills necessary, but not limited to: the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, follow recipes, completing sales transactions and calculating discounts.
Ability to use Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent communicator with ability to professionally and courteously interact with guests, crew members, store management team, corporate sales managers and leadership.
This includes answering telephone calls and using in-store intercom system.
Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and detergents in order to clean and sanitize tools using without allergic reaction.
Ability to work around food ingredients, produce and spices without allergic reaction.
Must be at least 18 years of age due to equipment use and work environment.
Current State Food Handler’s Permit must be maintained.

Responsibilities

Prepares delicatessen products for sale by incorporating ingredients to create fresh salads and entrées, slice meat and cheese for charcuterie, fry and roast chicken, package, price, label and merchandise products following established department and company policies and procedures.
Assists with leadership to food service department crew members including: planning and assigning work, coaching sessions and administering discipline when needed, providing training, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Conducts daily team huddles during each shift in order to communicate sales goals and to reinforce guest service expectations with all bakery department crew members.
Assists with writing and placing orders for all products and supplies.
Checks in order when load is received and dates, stocks and organizes all dry storage and coolers.
Assists with writing daily plans and weekly work schedules that anticipate the needs of the business.
Responsible for rotation of merchandise and maintenance of displays ensuring our products meet our freshness guarantee at all times.
Assists with the coordination of validation, item authorization, sign making and all food service department related POS maintenance.
Ensures that all displays are properly stocked.
Maintains accurate records for damaged/spoiled merchandise in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Complies with all food and workplace safety rules and regulations.

Works towards acquiring product knowledge within all departments in order to respond to guest questions and provide informative information about merchandise.
