This role actively participates in, trains, and mentors food service department crew members to enthusiastically demonstrate, educate, and sell in-store delicatessen products. The position involves preparing delicatessen products for sale, including creating fresh salads and entrées, slicing meat and cheese, frying and roasting chicken, and packaging, pricing, labeling, and merchandising products according to company policies. The Assistant Department Manager assists with leadership, including planning and assigning work, conducting coaching sessions, administering discipline, providing training, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Daily team huddles are conducted to communicate sales goals and reinforce guest service expectations. The role also includes assisting with ordering products and supplies, checking in orders, stocking, and organizing storage areas. Writing daily plans and weekly work schedules, rotating merchandise, maintaining displays, and ensuring product freshness are key responsibilities. The position assists with POS maintenance, ensuring displays are stocked, and maintaining records for damaged/spoiled merchandise. Compliance with food and workplace safety rules, and maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary work area are essential. The role requires acquiring product knowledge across departments to assist guests and staying updated on promotions. A team-oriented work environment that inspires collaboration is expected. The store operates seven days a week, requiring weekend, holiday, and shift work.
