About The Position

The Cedarville University School of Engineering and Computer Science is seeking exceptional faculty to join its Civil Engineering program. The goal is to train outstanding Civil Engineers who integrate high-level technical skills with an active Christian faith to transform lives globally. The program emphasizes rigorous academics, hands-on learning, and service opportunities, aiming to cultivate technical professionals committed to excellence in character, conduct, and skill. Faculty are dedicated to mentoring students both in and out of the classroom. Applications are invited for Civil Engineering faculty positions, with appointments anticipated at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, commensurate with experience and credentials. Eligibility for tenure-track appointment will depend on institutional needs and candidate qualifications. The School of Engineering and Computer Science offers ABET-accredited degree programs and currently serves over 750 students. The Civil Engineering degree program is housed in the Civil Engineering Center, a facility designed for hands-on learning, professional identity building, and fostering lifelong relationships.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or related discipline; OR, M.S. in Civil Engineering or related discipline, plus licensure as a registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of professional licensure.
  • Ability to effectively communicate subject material to students and relate with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to biblical integration in and out of the classroom.
  • Qualified applicant must be a born-again Christian with a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
  • Qualified applicant must agree with and be willing to abide by Cedarville University's Doctrinal Statement, Community Covenant, and General Work Place Standards.

  • Particular areas of interest include structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering materials, construction engineering, or transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and mentoring within an undergraduate engineering program.
  • Teaching undergraduate courses and laboratories in a variety of civil engineering areas.
  • Advising students.
  • Supervising senior design projects.
  • Participating in the continuing development of an innovative curriculum with a strong focus on lab-based learning and project work.
