About The Position

Goucher College, a nationally recognized, selective, private, coeducational liberal arts college located just outside Baltimore in Towson, Maryland, invites applications for an innovative and strategic leader to serve as its next Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness (AVP). At Goucher College, we are a dynamic and inclusive community grounded in intellectual curiosity, self-expression, and equity. Reporting to the Provost & Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the AVP is responsible for leading, managing, designing, developing, and implementing analytic strategies to assess College goals and priorities and overall institutional effectiveness. The AVP will work with President’s Cabinet to define and address critical information needs and provide meaningful data and analytic support to the College administration and academic decision-makers to facilitate evidence-based decision-making. The AVP will oversee the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) and will manage and provide data in support of all accreditation exercises.

Responsibilities

  • Provide collaborative leadership in identifying metrics and benchmarks to assess College strategic initiatives and priorities.
  • Ensure meaningful, appropriate data are available to inform College planning and effectiveness efforts and are in alignment with Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) accreditation requirements.
  • Audit the types of data, tools, and dissemination methods needed to grow and maintain analytic and data capacities.
  • Develop, in collaboration with other stakeholders, an institution-wide data strategy.
  • Provide support for College divisions, departments, and programs with the participation and completion of surveys for various associations including but not limited to NACUBO, EDUCAUSE, and CUPA-HR.
  • Coordinate annual cycle of survey administration including evaluating and recommending assessment instruments and methodologies, analyzing results, and communicating findings to relevant constituents including but not limited to the Board of Trustees, senior leadership cabinet, and faculty and staff.
  • Develop dashboards and translate data analysis results into relatable stories using data visualization tools.
  • Collaborate across the institution to encourage a culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Identify emerging issues, challenges, and opportunities through review of data, information, and research studies including those linked to institutional and national conversations about higher education.
  • Coordinate and manage the implementation and use of AI systems
  • Oversee college data governance
  • Facilitate the fostering of a culture of evidence within the institution and support the development and assessment of College-wide institutional goals, student learning outcomes, and administrative/educational support outcomes.
  • Coordinate College-wide program assessment.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the faculty assessment committee to ensure the assessment of institutional learning outcomes and assessment findings are used to guide curricular planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with offices to ensure the assessment of office goals and findings are used to guide planning and decision-making.
  • Serve as a liaison to academic and non-academic programs and offices to support the development and implementation of assessment plans.
  • Assist in collecting and organizing data in support of reaccreditation activities.
  • Serve as a liaison with faculty and staff in reaccreditation activities.
  • Oversee the OIE reporting requirements for federal, state, and professional agencies.
  • Oversee and manage the OIE and provide leadership in alignment with institutional goals.
  • Foster a culture of ongoing growth and development with staff.
  • Work with staff to identify top priorities and strategies to create annual assessment and analytic cycle.
