About The Position

Temple University's Institutional Advancement Department is searching for an Associate Vice President for Individual Giving and Campaign Priorities! This senior leadership role is responsible for driving philanthropic support aligned with the university’s highest institutional priorities, ensuring a coordinated and high performing approach to individual giving across schools, colleges, and central initiatives. The AVP manages a team of senior fundraising professionals, including an Assistant Vice President and an Executive Director, and maintains a selective portfolio of principal-level donors. The incumbent partners closely with Deans, Assistant Deans of Development, senior academic and administrative leaders, and central advancement teams to align donor interests with priorities that advance research, student success, and institutional growth. As a member of the Institutional Advancement senior leadership team, the AVP plays a critical role in campaign strategy, pipeline development, and fostering a culture of philanthropy across the university. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree.
  • At least ten (10) years of directly related experience and progressively responsible experience in major and principal gift fundraising, including leadership of high-performing teams.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated success securing seven-figure gifts is required.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex fundraising organizations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and planning capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
