About The Position

LMCC is Manhattan's Arts Council, a non-profit organization with a 50-year history of supporting artists and communities. We provide funding, studio and rehearsal space, professional development, and leadership in cultural planning and advocacy. Our team of 15 passionate arts leaders and administrators operates with a $6M budget and the guidance of an engaged Board of Directors. We are seeking a full-time Senior Development Manager to be a key system-oriented project lead in our high-impact development department. This role reports to the Director of Institutional Giving and acts as a project manager and strategic partner to support fundraising activities across institutional and individual priorities. The Senior Manager will manage the grants calendar, contribute to proposal and report drafting, and support direct solicitation efforts across all income streams. This role is ideal for an adaptable fundraising professional with a 'no task too big or too small' mentality and a background in project management, combining strong writing skills and successful grant management with the operational rigor to meet financial goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in grant writing and/or Development Operations, preferably with a cultural institution, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal skills, and facility with budgets. Ability to compile, report and analyze information succinctly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritizing work and managing multiple, diverse, and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to interface with program officers, community leaders, politicians, and business professionals.
  • Proficiency using Google Workplace, Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and/or other CRM systems and fundraising platforms.
  • Passion for the arts and culture sector.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central project manager for the Development department, maintaining the comprehensive master calendar for all institutional grants, individual appeals, and special events with an eye toward improving coordination and efficiency.
  • Work with Development Assistant to maintain CRM (Salesforce); support gift processing, acknowledgment workflows, and data hygiene. Work with the development team to generate regular fundraising reports and dashboards to track progress against annual goals.
  • Act as a bridge between Development and other departments (Programs, Finance, Communications) to ensure a cohesive flow of information.
  • Work with the Directors of Individual and Institutional Giving to evaluate and refine internal systems for donor tracking, moves management, and inter-departmental communication to increase efficiency.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of institutional support, from initial research and tracking deadlines to the final submission of proposals and reports. Act as project manager to coordinate cross departmentally with Program and Finance teams to gather necessary data, budgets, and project updates in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Director of Institutional Giving to draft and edit compelling grant narratives, LOIs, and stewardship reports.
  • Work with the programming team to ensure all grant-related requirements are met, including credit line fulfillment, final reporting, crediting, and project tracking.
  • Work with the Director of Individual giving to manage the execution of annual appeals, digital fundraising campaigns, and direct mailings, including list segmentation and coordinating with mail houses or printers.
  • Assist the Director of Institutional Giving and LMCC leadership in preparing briefing materials, pitch decks, and personalized outreach for individual donor solicitations.
  • Ensure high-touch stewardship for individual donors, managing the fulfillment of membership benefits and coordinating donor cultivation touchpoints.
  • Support the execution of cultivation events, including LMCC’s annual Gala, through RSVP management, coordination, and on-site assistance.
  • Proactively manage and build the organization’s prospect list. Identify new foundation, corporate, and individual prospects using research tools.
  • Track prospect engagement in Salesforce, ensuring that 'next steps' for potential donors are scheduled and assigned to the appropriate solicitor.
