About The Position

The Associate Veterinarian provides high-quality medical care at a Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospital. The role includes examining, diagnosing, and treating patients; providing preventive care; developing diagnostic and treatment plans; documenting care in medical records; and performing routine and complex surgical and dental procedures. Veterinarians help ensure continuity of care, communicate with clients and referral hospitals, and contribute to staff knowledge and a cohesive, well-trained team. The position is guided by the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director and must follow Petco Veterinary SOPs. There are no direct supervisory responsibilities, though the veterinarian serves as a de facto leader in the hospital. Most duties take place in a veterinary hospital and involve direct contact with clients and pets. The work requires bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds as necessary, and standing for extended periods. Compensation is listed as $95,600 to $203,000 per year, with actual pay dependent on factors including position, location, and experience.
