About The Position
Lakeside Spears Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Associate Veterinarian for a daytime role in Carbondale, Illinois. The hospital is a well-established practice with a three-doctor team, providing wellness and urgent care, surgery, dentistry, and diagnostic services. The role offers medical autonomy, collaboration, and mentorship opportunities, and is suitable for experienced veterinarians as well as new graduates seeking mentorship. The veterinarian will practice general medicine and surgery across a diverse caseload, use the hospital’s diagnostic resources to support clinical decisions, collaborate with fellow DVMs and the hospital team, and communicate compassionately with clients. Diagnostic resources include CT, ultrasound, X-ray, and in-house chemistry, hematology, and blood-gas testing. The hospital emphasizes compassion, integrity, service, and strong relationships with pets and their families. Its team partners with nearby humane societies and participates in local events. The position is based at 2001 Sweets Dr in Carbondale, Illinois.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
- Active veterinary state license.
- Current DEA license or obtain one upon hire.
- USDA accreditation or obtain it upon hire.
- Proficiency in general medicine and surgery.
- Clear communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team.
