About The Position

As the Associate Technical Fellow, eCommerce & Marketplace, you will translate business strategy and objectives into clear technology strategy, architecture, and technical direction for Best Buy's digital commerce ecosystem. You will build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders, influencing decisions through effective communication and collaboration. This role requires deep expertise in large-scale, customer-facing digital platforms, modern web and mobile architectures, and enterprise technology strategy. You will serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders while helping shape the future of Best Buy's web, mobile, and marketplace experiences. In this role, you'll primarily work virtually from home or another non‑Best Buy location. However, you must live within a drivable distance to our corporate campus in Richfield, Minnesota. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team, and the recruiter or hiring manager will provide additional details during the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale digital platforms
  • 10 years of demonstrated expertise in application, data, integration, and infrastructure architecture
  • 10 years of deep experience with large-scale web and native mobile experiences in transactional environments
  • 10 years of experience with modern web technologies, including React, GraphQL, API-driven architectures, observability, and performance monitoring
  • 5 years of Enterprise Architecture experience
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • 12 years of directly related experience
  • Experience leading cloud modernization efforts for large-scale commerce platforms
  • Retail, marketplace or other high-volume customer transaction experience

Responsibilities

  • Own enterprise technology patterns and roadmaps for eCommerce and Marketplace capabilities, including current-state assessments, future-state architecture, identified gaps, and strategic modernization plans
  • Play a critical role on the Enterprise Architecture Review Board by evaluating proposed solutions and guiding architecture decisions that align with enterprise standards and roadmaps
  • Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and product teams to define architecture strategy for web, mobile, APIs, supporting services, and customer-facing digital platforms
  • Guide engineering teams on scalable architecture patterns that support high-volume transactional experiences, performance, observability, and reliability
  • Coach and mentor architects and engineers while providing technical leadership on modernization efforts and emerging technologies, including practical AI applications
