The Associate Systems Engineer assists with defining, designing, and developing system requirements; coordinating subsystem design and total-system integration; analyzing and resolving program support deficiencies; and conducting independent technical investigations in systems design. It also automates application installation and configuration in development and production environments, helps prevent system problems, restores services after incidents, and supports root-cause analysis. The engineer evaluates new systems through in-depth testing and end-user reviews, researches software and related products to support recommendations and purchasing, and identifies integration issues by evaluating components, developing and completing performance tests, analyzing test data, and considering project requirements and user input. The role develops system automation and integration for business processes and maintains engineering knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networking, benchmarking, and participation in professional societies. There are no direct reports, though the position may informally lead teams in a matrix environment.
