Associate Solidworks Designer - Porter Corp
About The Position
The Associate Solidworks Designer prepares design, detailing, and bills of materials for fabrication drawing packages. Using sales orders, building attributes, and engineering calculations, the role develops submittal and installation drawings as well as fabrication part drawings. The position collaborates with Project Engineers, Designers, Manufacturing, and other internal and external partners to ensure designs meet customer requirements and are completed on schedule. The designer uses SolidWorks for solid modeling and applies company engineering specifications, drafting procedures, design standards, and CAD procedures. The role also supports other Designers and performs related duties as required. Minimal to no travel is required.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or engineering technology degree.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks solid modeling using Part/Assembly and Weldment modeling methods.
- Knowledge of detailing procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Highly self-motivated, with the ability to take action and keep projects moving forward.
Responsibilities
- Prepare installation instructions, finalize project-specific designs, perform detail drafting, and prepare bills of materials.
- Create drawings using SolidWorks software.
- Review engineering calculations and supporting documentation to ensure the final design meets customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers, Designers, and Manufacturing on final product design.
- Apply engineering specifications and procedures used on Porter Corp projects.
- Use customer requirements, engineering calculations, and engineered drawings to create accurate fabrication drawings and installation instructions.
- Create accurate bills of materials for manufacturing.
- Apply drafting, design, and CAD procedures when developing project drawings.
- Help other Designers as needed to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Provide installation drawings and fabrication part drawings on the schedule dictated by customer requirements.
- Perform other related duties as required.
