About The Position

The Designer will work onsite at Fermilab in Batavia, Illinois, under limited supervision, preparing mechanical designs and drawings using NX1980 and Teamcenter and applying the ASME Y14.5-M-1994 or higher GD&T standard. The work supports APS-TD projects, including PIP-II, LCLS-II, LCLS-II HE, Accelerator Support, LHC AUP, SRF, and SC Magnets. The Designer will follow design and drafting procedures, meet project schedules and other requirements, and work directly with engineering staff to research and analyze design solutions, coordinate design development, and specify and select design components and materials. Remote work may be possible.

Requirements

• Demonstrate acceptable proficiency in SolidWorks/NX in an interview conducted through the Zoom meeting portal.
• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Designer.
• Ability to deliver quality work on deadline-driven projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform design tolerance and stack-up calculations.
• Create layout designs, detailed designs, advanced-level 3D models, and 2D drawings required for projects.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings in NX1980 and manage them in Teamcenter.
• Work with engineering staff to research and analyze design solutions and coordinate design development.
• Specify and select design components and materials.
• Follow design and drafting procedures and work to meet project schedules and requirements.
