About The Position

As a full-stack Associate Software Development Engineer Intern, you will partner with senior engineers to help design, build, and maintain software across the application stack, from user-facing interfaces to APIs, data stores, and cloud infrastructure. You will write well-tested, maintainable code, participate in code reviews, and use AI coding assistants to accelerate delivery while critically evaluating AI-generated output for correctness and security. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and peer engineers to create resilient, scalable solutions. The internship involves contributing to end-to-end software development with guidance from the team, participating in system design discussions, developing and reviewing tests and code, using CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code, learning production monitoring and incident response, and communicating technical work and trade-offs. The position is a 12-week, full-time internship in either May–August or June–September 2027. Work location will be determined based on team growth strategies; listed possible locations include Santa Clara, California; San Diego, California; Kirkland, Washington; and West Palm Beach, Florida.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a graduation date no earlier than May 2028.
  • Available to work full-time hours for a 12-week period, either May–August or June–September 2027.
  • Experience leveraging or critically considering how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
  • Exposure through coursework, personal projects, internships, or hackathons to front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue; back-end languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, or Go; databases; REST or GraphQL APIs; and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Comfort adopting emerging AI/ML tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to software architecture concepts, API design, databases, or distributed systems through coursework or projects.
  • Familiarity with writing clean, secure, well-tested code and understanding code review as a quality practice.
  • Exposure to AI coding assistants such as Copilot, Cursor, or Codeium and LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-weight models.
  • Sound judgment when reviewing AI-generated code for correctness and security.
  • Ability to break down requirements into actionable tasks and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build features end-to-end, from design through deployment, across front-end frameworks and back-end services.
  • Contribute to system design discussions and help define data models, API contracts, and cloud-native and persistence approaches.
  • Write comprehensive tests, follow coding standards, and review code—including AI-generated code—for security, performance, and maintainability.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites to validate software functionality and catch defects early.
  • Use and help maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
  • Learn to monitor production systems and support incident response, including for AI-integrated components.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and platform teams to scope and deliver features.
  • Document work clearly and explain technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
