We are seeking an Associate Scientist to join our Ophthalmology group, supporting the development of therapies for ocular immune and inflammatory diseases. In this role, you will engage in hands-on research across cell biology, immune-focused assays, and disease-relevant experimental models while collaborating with a team working across multiple preclinical programs. Requirements

  • B.S. degree in a relevant field with 0–2 years of experience in a life-sciences discipline; practical, hands-on laboratory experience is valued over an advanced degree.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Open and frequent communication with manager and team members.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a track record of reliable, broad execution across multiple techniques rather than deep specialization in a single area.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with mouse handling and basic techniques, including injections, colony management, and blood collection.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, including cell lines and primary cells.
  • Experience with immunoassays such as ELISA, MSD, or Luminex; Western blot; or DNA/RNA extraction.
  • Experience with tissue dissection, cell isolation, or flow cytometry.
  • Prior experience as a research technician in an academic lab or associate scientist in industry.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and biological data collection/analysis.
  • Experience in ocular procedures is a plus but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and care for mice, including procedures such as injections, colony management, and blood/tissue sample collection.
  • Perform tissue dissection and cell isolation from ocular and other tissues for downstream analysis.
  • Maintain, expand, and/or treat cells in vitro, using established cell lines and primary human and mouse cells.
  • Perform immunoassays and molecular biology assays such as ELISA, Western blot, DNA/RNA extraction, and multiplex platforms such as MSD and Luminex/CBA.
  • Evaluate cell phenotype and function using ex vivo or in vitro assays, including flow cytometry.
  • Analyze data using biological and statistical software such as FlowJo, Excel, and Prism.
  • Document experimental procedures and results with care and accuracy.
  • Contribute to day-to-day lab operations, including equipment maintenance and ordering supplies/reagents.
  • Thrive in an innovative, team-driven environment, adapting readily to new techniques and shifting tasks.
