Associate Scientist II – Technology Access Program

Alamar Biosciences•Fremont, CA

About The Position

Alamar is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist II to join its Technology Access team. The role supports the development, optimization, characterization, and execution of NULISA-based immunoassays and multiplex proteomic panels across diverse disease areas, from early feasibility through customer sample testing. The successful candidate will bring hands-on immunoassay execution skills, data-analysis capabilities, and the operational discipline needed to manage complex, multiplex experiments and deliver reliable results on tight timelines. The role contributes to biomarker discovery, validation, and translational research, and includes assay development and performance characterization, reagent logistics, PCR and NGS data analysis, troubleshooting, reporting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. It also involves exploring new NULISA applications, developing KOL collaborations, and preparing scientific conference abstracts and posters.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Immunology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or a related discipline, with at least 1 year of industrial immunoassay development experience; alternatively, a B.S. degree with at least 3 years of experience may be considered.
  • Hands-on experience executing and optimizing immunoassays such as ELISA.
  • Strong understanding of proteomics and biomarker research.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of emerging reagents, immunoassay technologies, biomarker discovery, assay prototyping, performance optimization, and control system design.
  • Ability to disseminate and summarize scientific literature for a broad interdisciplinary audience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-sensitivity platforms such as Simoa, MSD, or Luminex.
  • Hands-on experience generating and analyzing PCR and NGS sequencing datasets; highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize multiplex proteomic panels, including NULISAseq and custom biopharma panels, for biomarker discovery, validation, and translational research.
  • Design, conduct, and analyze single-plex NULISA immunoassays across biological matrices, optimizing sensitivity, specificity, and detectability.
  • Characterize assay performance, including calibration curves, LLOQ, precision, dilution linearity, spike recovery, and parallelism.
  • Manage reagent inventory, lot tracking, aliquoting, storage, and stability for panels with up to thousands of components, coordinating with Manufacturing and R&D.
  • Analyze PCR and NGS datasets, prepare reports, and present results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues using root-cause analysis across reagent, instrument, sample, and operator factors.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver projects on time and contribute to strategic discussions.
  • Explore new NULISA applications, cultivate KOL collaborations, and prepare abstracts and posters for scientific conferences.
