About The Position

The Chemical Engineering Research & Development Department (CERD), within the Small Molecule Process Research and Development organization and Research & Development Division, seeks a highly motivated individual for a hands-on role with technical and project management responsibility. Under scientific and administrative direction, the engineer designs, plans, and executes experiments for small-molecule and cross-modality active pharmaceutical ingredient (API, or drug substance) process development, technology development, and production scale-up. Work takes place in the laboratory, kilo lab, pilot plant, and commercial manufacturing sites. The role may include daily pilot-plant production activities, including equipment setup and batch processing, while ensuring compliance with safety, good manufacturing practice (GMP), and environmental requirements. The engineer also participates in troubleshooting and technical investigations and may help introduce new processes to internal or external manufacturing sites as products are brought to market. The position calls for innovation, creativity, self-initiative, planning and organizational ability, and strong oral and written communication skills. Approximately 10–15% travel is required. The primary location is Rahway, New Jersey, and the position is onsite. The role is regular, with domestic relocation listed; visa sponsorship is not available.
