About The Position

The Sales Associate processes merchandise and supports efficient retail store operations. The role assists customers and handles transactions, performs basic record-keeping, and completes other retail duties as assigned. The associate contributes to Goodwill San Antonio’s mission of fighting poverty and creating opportunity by providing friendly customer service and helping recirculate usable goods.

Requirements

At least 6 months to 1 year of successful experience in a retail, customer-service-oriented environment.
Ability to bend, lift, grasp, and move continuously throughout the day.
Good verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Greet customers in a friendly and courteous manner and help identify and meet their shopping needs.
Create positive customer experiences, encourage purchases, and continuously improve selling techniques.
Receive, price, and stock donated merchandise.
Hang, inspect, and tag textile or clothing items in a production environment.
Maintain sales-floor presentations and proactively restock merchandise.
Operate the cash register; process purchases, record sales and other transactions, handle cash and debit/credit payments, and issue receipts accurately.
Keep aisles, fitting rooms, work areas, and facilities clean and organized; remove debris and obstructions and perform basic janitorial duties as assigned.
Follow safe-work protocols and notify a Team Leader or Manager about potential safety hazards.
Follow loss-prevention, inventory-control, and compliance procedures.
Maintain regular and dependable attendance and punctuality.
Assist in safeguarding Goodwill team members and property from harm, damage, or theft.
Promptly report observed or suspected theft, fraud, violence, or unethical or inappropriate behavior to a supervisor, Human Resources, or the Ethics Hotline.
