About The Position

This role is for an Associate, Risk Governance with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, New York. The primary focus is to mitigate risks associated with facilitating lending commitments and sensitive banking transactions to ensure an excellent client experience. This involves reviewing documentation and information for the approval and execution of lending commitments, ensuring compliance with Firm requirements. The role requires specialized knowledge of business and engineering ethics, standardized engineering practices and operations, and risk-based decision making. Collaboration with bankers is key for seamless approvals and execution, and liaison with multiple parties is necessary to execute transactions. The position also ensures due diligence is performed to comply with regulations by translating regulatory requirements and leveraging knowledge of systems evaluation, risk management, and organizational behaviors. Process improvement is a significant aspect, involving the use of specialized knowledge in product analysis, data analysis, process analysis, and financial instruments to develop enhanced standard operating procedures. The role assesses business requirements, acts as a catalyst for change, and improves performance, quality, and monitoring. A critical skill is the ability to communicate and transform complex business and engineering ideas into layman's terms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Business, Economics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related role.
  • Three (3) years of experience reviewing bank loan credit agreements and reviewing documentation terms for revolving credit facilities and term loans.
  • Three (3) years of experience reviewing various forms of financial statements, including 10K’s, 10Q’s, and business and legal diligence documents.
  • Three (3) years of experience leveraging tools and technologies to manage and report on risks and exposures, including using MS Office Suite and Tableau.
  • Three (3) years of experience communicating clearly, concisely, and effectively with internal and external constituents including leadership, corporate and sponsor clients, lawyers, and lead arrangers/banks.
  • Three (3) years of experience analyzing large data sets and trends and summarizing results to produce succinct high-impact presentations.
  • Three (3) years of experience overseeing the full life cycle of multiple transactions from origination, approval, and execution along with position/portfolio management.
  • Three (3) years of experience working on business specific projects and initiatives as needed, including engineering efforts, regulatory requests, and process enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Mitigate risks associated with facilitating lending commitments and/or sensitive banking transactions to ensure excellent client experience.
  • Review documentation and information in connection with the approval and execution of lending commitments.
  • Ensure compliance with Firm requirements to assist with the approval and underwriting of new lending commitments.
  • Partner with bankers to ensure seamless approvals and execution processes.
  • Liaise with multiple parties to execute those transactions.
  • Ensure due diligence is performed to comply with regulations.
  • Devise and implement process improvement efficiencies by analyzing current operational flows and applying optimization and simulation models to develop enhanced standard operating procedures.
  • Assess and ensure business requirements are met, acting as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance, quality, and monitoring performance.
  • Communicate and transform complex business and engineering ideas into layman’s terms.
