About The Position

Complete low-level assignments related to routine refurbishment, modification, and rework of gas turbine engine packages. The technician applies limited mechanical or electronic knowledge while supporting experienced team members and building knowledge of turbomachinery systems, packages, and refurbishment processes.

Work includes executing tasks and assisting higher-level technicians with package updates and refurbishment to customer specifications. The position works under close supervision, guided by verbal instructions and some engineering documentation, and involves learning to use shop equipment, bench tools, hand tools, and inspection equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to learn team skills and apply them to assigned work in a team environment.
• Formal high-school-level or junior-college courses in electronics, hydraulics, mechanics, or shop procedures, or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

• Some exposure to mechanics or electronics, or familiarity with shop-floor procedures.
• Prior or current exposure to a Solar Turbines manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Solar Turbines processes and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Tear down packages and parts received from customers or other Solar locations, then clean and prepare them for refurbishment.
• Assess whether parts are reusable, locate replacement parts, and reassemble package sections.
• Prepare parts for painting, prepare the paint booth, and perform painting activities.
• Learn and perform duties related to the small components area.
• Use growing electronics knowledge to assemble package controls and update older systems using specification sheets and engineering drawings.
• Use growing mechanical assembly knowledge to work on package parts according to customer requirements.
• Assist higher-level technicians and participate in team assignments to update and refurbish packages.
