About The Position

The Associate Project Manager is an experienced structural engineer transitioning into project management while continuing to perform structural engineering design and provide technical direction. Working under the direction of a Project Manager or Project Executive, the role develops skills in managing project scope, schedules, coordination, communication, staffing, and financial performance. Associate Project Managers may manage smaller or less-complex projects with oversight while supporting the management and execution of larger, more complex projects. The position links project leadership, engineering staff, BIM/modeling staff, clients, and other project participants. The role combines project management responsibilities with technical structural engineering work, including analysis and design as needed. It includes coordinating project teams and consultants, reviewing technical deliverables, supporting client communication and construction-phase services, monitoring project requirements and performance, and helping ensure consistent application of company engineering and delivery standards. The position also provides technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced team members and continues developing project management capability.

  • Ability to take ownership of assigned projects or responsibilities, make appropriate day-to-day decisions, and recognize when issues require escalation.
  • Ability to identify potential project risks related to scope, schedule, staffing, coordination, technical issues, or client requirements and communicate them proactively.
  • Ability to provide clear technical direction, constructive feedback, and appropriate support to engineering and BIM/modeling team members.
  • Strong client-service mindset and ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships.
