About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Project Manager III (APM III) / Accessibility Specialist to support fire, life safety, accessibility, and building code compliance efforts within a large-scale public infrastructure program. This role is responsible for ensuring that capital construction and rehabilitation projects comply with New York State Fire and Building Codes, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other applicable regulatory requirements throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, project management, business administration or public administration and 2 years’ experience; or A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six (6) years' experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in code enforcement, accessible design, plan review of fire department operations, energy conservation, or site inspections having served in a supervisory capacity.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour certification must be completed required prior to performing work on or near wayside areas.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Successful completion of track safety training for NYC Transit, Metro- North Railroad, or Long Island Railroad, as applicable.
  • If offered to the consultant, must pass the New York State (NYS) Code Enforcement Official Certification class.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, review capital projects throughout all phases of the project life cycle (pre-design through closeout phases) for compliance with NYS Fire and Building Codes and the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”).
  • Review project drawings and narratives for the drafting of Master Plans, Scope of Work, and multiple design phases to ensure compliance with applicable Fire, Building, and ADA regulations, and provide written comments as needed.
  • Participate in design review meetings to verify that ADA requirements are fully integrated into project designs.
  • As directed, perform construction acceptance and/or maintenance inspections for Fire, Code, and ADA compliance at stations and facilities undergoing rehabilitation, ensuring adherence to State Fire and Building Codes, ADA Accessibility Guidelines, and contract documents.
