This position involves reviewing diagnostic documentation, determining appropriate academic accommodations, promoting disability awareness, developing peer initiatives, overseeing the testing center, and creating support structures aligned with the University's retention goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Working knowledge of the social media platform, Instagram
  • Knowledge of disability services and student affairs functions
  • Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ADA Amendments Act, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, The Fair Housing Act, and other related state and federal laws
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to balance multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Review diagnostic documentation and meet with students to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations in accordance with federal, state, departmental, and University policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Maintain regular contact and follow-up with students registered with the CADR office.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with campus partners to connect students to beneficial campus resources.
  • Communicate with faculty to advocate for students.
  • Assist with testing center operations and exam-related accommodations.
  • Support the provision of alternate format texts and adaptive and accessible technology.
  • Analyze and create processes for the provision of other necessary academic accommodations (e.g., note taking, scribes).
  • Supervise/manage graduate and undergraduate staff, including conducting onboarding and training for new disability services staff members.
  • Promote staff development and engagement in line with best practices regarding educational accessibility and inclusion.
  • Identify and develop promising practices to support student retention efforts for students with disabilities.
  • Create peer-lead initiatives.
  • Develop robust online support resources.
  • Enhance partnerships between University Departments.
  • Promote disability services to the campus community.
  • Provide consultation and support to faculty and staff regarding ways to support students with physical, learning, or psychological/psychiatric disabilities.
  • Manage the CADR social media Instagram account by conducting research, creating and designing content, checking accessibility of content, posting a minimum of two times per week, and keeping track of all posts in a Google Doc.
  • Manage data by creating departmental surveys, determining outcome goals, selecting target populations, creating and dispersing surveys, and collecting data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
