About The Position

Northeastern University's College of Science is seeking an Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Psychology to serve as the Director of the Northeastern University Biomedical Imaging Center (NUBIC). This role is within the Institute for Cognitive and Brain Health (CBH) and is located in the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex. The ideal candidate will have an internationally recognized, well-funded research program and expertise in human MRI/fMRI research within disciplines such as psychological science, developmental science, cognitive science, neuroscience, medical physics, biological science, biomedical engineering, biomedical science, radiology, or health science. A key aspect of this role is leadership in building a user base for functional, diffusion, spectroscopy, and structural MRI research, with a strong preference for candidates with experience working with interdisciplinary groups. The successful candidate will be appointed to the Department of Psychology and potentially other departments based on their research program. Responsibilities include bringing vision and energy to NUBIC, coordinating and managing all MRI imaging functions, and providing scientific training to MRI users on data acquisition, processing, and analysis. Support staff, including a technical director and MRI technician, will report to the Director. The Director will have office and research space within the CBH. The NUBIC is equipped with a Siemens Prisma 3T MRI suite and state-of-the-art compatible equipment for visual and auditory stimulation, eye-tracking, response devices, and physiological measurements. The College of Science encourages cross-disciplinary research, and the Department of Psychology is highly interdisciplinary with a strong focus on psychological, cognitive, and brain health research. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, physics, biomedical engineering, or a related field, or an M.D.
  • A record of research commensurate with rank (Associate or Full Professor)
  • Experience in, or a demonstrated commitment to, working in a global work and educational environment
  • Strong record of scholarly accomplishment that demonstrates the ability to build a strong research program
  • Substantial research productivity and an established history of grant support and academic service (for Associate/Full Professor)
  • Experience and qualifications that reflect a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and scholarly accomplishment (for Associate/Full Professor)
  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience is required for appointment as Associate Professor
  • A minimum of twelve years of relevant experience is required for appointment as Full Professor
  • Expertise conducting human MRI/fMRI research in one of the following disciplines: psychological science, developmental science, cognitive science, neuroscience, medical physics, biological science, biomedical engineering, biomedical science, radiology, or health science
  • Leadership in building a user-base of scientists engaged in functional, diffusion, spectroscopy, and structural MRI research
  • Expertise in working with a range of interdisciplinary groups is strongly desired
