Colorado Christian University is hiring an Assistant or Associate Professor of Historical Theology in the School of Theology within the College of Undergraduate Studies. The position reports to the Dean of the School of Theology and is based fully on-site at CCU’s Lakewood, Colorado, campus. Appointment rank will be determined by qualifications, experience, and applicable university criteria. Employment is scheduled to begin July 1, 2027, with teaching responsibilities starting in the fall 2027 semester. The faculty member will teach upper-division courses in Historical and Systematic Theology and general education courses in Philosophy and World Religions. Courses are traditional, in-seat offerings on the Lakewood campus. Faculty use effective instruction as subject matter experts while integrating field-specific pedagogy with a biblical and Christian worldview and teaching CCU’s spiritual, academic, and cultural Strategic Priorities. The standard teaching load is 24 semester hours per year. Beyond teaching, the role supports CCU’s mission through scholarship, service, advising, curriculum and assessment work, community engagement, and other duties assigned by the Dean. The professor advises students, supervises undergraduate research and projects as assigned, maintains regular office hours, and contributes to the development and enrollment growth of theology and philosophy programs. The position also includes evaluating and overseeing adjunct instructors and graders, participating in campus events, and contributing to publications associated with the Ephrem Project based on transcribed and translated Syriac manuscripts from early church fathers. The successful candidate will maintain an active program of historical-theological scholarship, including peer-reviewed publication and conference participation, consistent with faculty rank and workload. The role requires regular public presentations and participation in university activities, which may occur during evenings or weekends. The employee may occasionally work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, and may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach, balance, stoop, speak clearly, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds may be required. CCU offers competitive compensation and benefits. Faculty pay is assigned by rank within a range of $55,000 to $70,000; compensation and benefits are discussed further as candidates progress through the interview process. The university’s benefit package includes a tuition waiver program, healthcare, paid time off, a matching 403(b) retirement plan, and additional paid and voluntary benefits. Applications are accepted until the position is filled.
