About The Position

The Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development (APHD) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Clinical and Counselling Psychology. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.

Requirements

  • Earned a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Clinical and/or Counselling Psychology from a CPA or APA approved program.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
  • Established international reputation and a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in Clinical and Counselling Psychology.
  • Dynamic and innovative scholar whose research program and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths in clinical and counselling psychology.
  • Research focuses on any area of clinical and/or counselling psychology.
  • Work engages with equity-deserving communities and contributes to inclusive, socially responsive scholarship grounded in principles of social justice, diversity, and decolonization.
  • Research explores innovative approaches to clinical and counselling psychology, including the use of emerging technologies such as AI, digital mental health interventions, or other novel approaches to clinical and counselling practice.
  • Clinical and research experience working with populations across the lifespan.
  • Teaching experience in psychological assessment and/or therapeutic interventions.
  • Evidence of research excellence, as demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, and strong endorsements from referees.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (including the required materials outlined below), and strong letters of reference.

  • Sustain and lead innovative and independent research.
  • Maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
  • Assigned a teaching and service load which includes graduate teaching and supervision.
  • Contributing to the growth and leadership of the Clinical and Counselling Psychology program.
  • Participation in standard professional and administrative activities within the department and university.
