About The Position

This role manages the vision, roadmap, and deliverables for a small set of clinical engineering products. The Associate Product Manager will document customer needs into a portfolio roadmap, provide assistance on the development, execution, and monitoring of product roadmaps, and ensure the portfolio of products delivers the necessary capabilities for customers. The Health IT department at VUMC provides essential health information technology tools that support the institution's mission of delivering personalized care, improving health, providing transformative learning programs, and supporting research. With 500 colleagues, HealthIT supports products throughout their lifecycle, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of VUMC's 24,000 colleagues. The department emphasizes accountability, transparency, and execution, working collaboratively with VUMC Information Technology (VUMC IT) to respond to clinical and operational issues with agility and innovation.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, to be able to properly communicate with clinical staff, vendors, IT and occasionally even patients throughout our VUMC facilities
  • Ability to work on-site at our various clinics and/or facilities in a hybrid fashion 3 days a week.
  • Ability to participate in an On-Call rotation as needed.
  • IT Portfolio Management (Fundamental Awareness): Has light experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with IT Portfolio Management. Maintains and updates status of projects including planned initiatives, projects, and ongoing IT services for IT Portfolio Management.
  • Product Vendor Management (Fundamental Awareness): Has knowledge of the contract process within the corporation. Assists in identifying technical requirements for the contract. Works with vendors in support of the administrative process.
  • Emerging Technologies (Fundamental Awareness): Stays abreast of new technology as it applies to work assignments and tasks. Reads trade journals, books and other materials to remain informed about new technology. Maintains a curiosity about new tools and their utility on current projects. Effectively utilizes technology information available on-site.
  • Product Knowledge (Fundamental Awareness): Has a general working knowledge of the product and of key product terminology. Some training, direct exposure, light experience, or past experience working with the product.
  • Project Coordination (Fundamental Awareness): Has light experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience with Project Coordination. Has worked on at least one project in a support role. Collects and collates project related material such as project initiation documents, project status reports, project metrics, and project completion data.
