CBC Edmonton is looking for a creative self-starter and collaborative team player who is passionate about reaching new audiences and bringing local news stories to life through visual storytelling. That creative and dynamic associate producer will help produce original and engaging visual content on our TV, digital, streaming and social platforms. As a member of the CBC Edmonton cross-platform visual team, you will write compelling news programming and interview scripts for a visual story line-up that provides audiences with the context they need, wherever they seek that information. That work is rooted in CBC Edmonton’s 6 o’clock TV newscast, but carries over into the CBC News app, streaming channels and video platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. As someone who lives and breathes the news, you are a critical thinker and an excellent communicator who knows how to drive news stories forward in ways that are highly adaptable to a variety of online video platforms. You are excited about building bridges between television news audiences and those who discover CBC Edmonton’s stories in a constantly evolving digital landscape. You understand the diverse and changing population in Edmonton and northern Alberta, and the importance of broadening the range of perspectives, experiences and points of view reflected on our programming, especially those from people who have been traditionally underrepresented in the media. In your work, you will ensure CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful and immediate. This role requires a full-time on-site presence. Note: This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. Regular working hours will be Monday through Friday, 10:15 a.m.- 6:30 p.m. The successful candidate will need to be flexible around working varied shifts based on operational needs which can include evenings and weekends.
