The Indigenous Pathways Program is a 9-month, paid, full-time career launchpad designed to empower First Nations, Inuit, and Métis storytellers. From October 2026 to June 2027, participants will gain specialized training in multimedia journalism—covering everything from ethics to story development—alongside immersive, hands-on work experience and dedicated career mentorship. The program prioritizes unique voices and perspectives, so no prior journalism education or experience is required. Over nine months, participants will engage in a guided professional journey designed to accelerate their growth as a journalist. The program includes an "Foundations" phase in October to immerse in CBC culture and learn the landscape of the national broadcaster. "Skill Building" in November-December involves intensive training to sharpen craft, identify strengths, and build a development roadmap. "Newsroom Placement" from January to June allows participants to gain real-world experience producing impactful stories within a fast-paced CBC newsroom. From March to June, participants will "Cultivate their craft", integrating learnings to refine their professional vision, showcase their unique voice, and explore long-term career opportunities at CBC. This position requires full-time on-site presence and can be based in either Regina or Saskatoon. The program provides comprehensive journalism training, career development support, and immersive work experience.
