About The Position

The Indigenous Pathways Program is a paid, full-time, 9-month learning and development opportunity designed to support First Nations, Inuit, or Métis individuals in honing their professional skills at CBC. The program provides training within an all-Indigenous cohort, personalized career development, and hands-on work experience. No prior journalism or media production education or job experience is required to apply. The current program runs from October 2026 through June 2027. One candidate will be selected to work with each of this year’s host teams. This position is based in Toronto and will work within the CBC Gem Social team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in television, film and digital storytelling on social media to work in support of a wide range of content available on CBC’s streaming service. This is a full-time role utilizing a hybrid work model, allowing for both home and in-office collaboration as required. Please note that relocation costs are not covered.

Requirements

  • Are First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.
  • Have a deep interest in digital storytelling, and the latest trends on social media (with a focus on Instagram and TikTok)
  • Are passionate about television and film within your community or beyond.
  • Are eager to gain practical, hands-on experience at CBC.
  • Are interested in developing technical skills like video editing.
  • Have some experience with shooting, editing, or publishing video for any platform.
  • Are a critical thinker who demonstrates strong ethics and integrity.
  • Are a collaborative communicator and enthusiastic team player.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing and social media
  • Experience with media production storytelling
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
