About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking an Associate Personal Banker (SAFE) for its National Branch at Foothill Square in Oakland, California. This frontline role builds customer relationships through in-branch interactions, scheduled conversations, and proactive outreach. The banker learns about customers’ financial goals and connects them with relevant banking products, services, solutions, and digital tools. The position supports account openings, service requests, and credit applications while collaborating with branch teammates to provide a consistent, high-quality customer experience. It requires balancing customer service and growth through relationship building, sound judgment, and compliance with operational and risk controls. Wells Fargo provides training and coaching to support development and long-term career growth. The schedule includes Saturdays. The role flexes between cash handling and customer banking activities, with an emphasis on account openings and ongoing account support. SAFE registration is required at employment; Wells Fargo initiates the registration process after the start date. Loan Originators must meet applicable LO/CFPB requirements and Wells Fargo policies, including standards related to financial responsibility, character, fitness, and criminal background. A credit report may be reviewed, without the credit score, and additional ongoing screening may apply. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. The base pay range is $23.00–$31.00; employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

Requirements

At least 6 months of customer-interaction experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education, or a combination of these.
SAFE registration is required at the time of employment; Wells Fargo will initiate the process after the start date.
Ability to work a schedule that includes Saturdays.
Loan Originators must meet LO/CFPB requirements and Wells Fargo policies, including standards related to financial responsibility, character, fitness, and criminal background.
Must comply with applicable risk and compliance policies and requirements.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in financial services or a highly regulated, customer-facing role, with comfort following structured processes and meeting accuracy and service expectations.
Experience building trust-based customer relationships through active listening, follow-up, and consistent engagement.
Comfort initiating outreach by calls, emails, or other channels to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities to support customer needs.

Responsibilities

Identify opportunities, promote solutions, and make appropriate referrals to support customer and business goals.
Support everyday banking needs, including new account openings, service requests, and credit applications.
Handle cash and perform teller-line activities, processing transactions accurately and maintaining compliance and operational standards.
Use and adopt digital tools and technologies to enhance the customer experience and support evolving banking needs.
Deliver accurate, compliant service and exercise sound judgment within defined risk controls.
Collaborate with branch teammates and coordinate handoffs to licensed bankers or other specialists.
Flex between cash handling and customer banking activities, including account openings and ongoing account support.
Follow applicable risk programs, policies, and procedures; escalate and remediate issues appropriately.
