About The Position

Direct Communications is seeking a high-ownership Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage wired, wireless, and unified communication services. This role involves optimizing network infrastructure, resolving complex system issues, and serving as a primary technical point of contact for vendors. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong focus on results, collaboration, and customer satisfaction, contributing to the company's mission of connecting rural communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting complex LAN/WAN and Telecommunications networks.
  • Deep knowledge of BGP, OSPF, DWDM, TCP/IP, VLANs, and FTTH.
  • Ability to pick up technical concepts quickly, communicate professionally under pressure, and resolve problems.
  • Self-motivated, energy-driven, and prioritizes administrative functions and documentation.
  • High emotional intelligence, diplomatic and patient, capable of diffusing high-tension situations and building rapport.
  • Willingness to assist colleagues and define success collectively.

Nice To Haves

  • CCNA or CCNP certifications.
  • Familiarity with MPLS, Segment Routing, and EVPN.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead on strategic planning, design, and implementation of wired, wireless, and unified communication services.
  • Install and manage LAN/WAN and Telco/ISP equipment, ensuring the core network is resilient and high-performing.
  • Use rigorous logic to proactively resolve system issues before they impact customers.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for vendors and provide expert-level support for special circuit configurations.
  • Manage VMs, server support, and network security with a relentless focus on quality and efficiency.
