About The Position

The Associate Mechanical Design Engineer is an engineering position within ABB Distribution Solutions, supporting the design of electrical distribution equipment, specifically ANSI Air Insulated Switchgear. The position handles low-complexity orders and special designs, using 3D modeling and CAD tools to develop engineering solutions and make professional design decisions. The role contributes to Electrification Distribution Solutions in Mebane, North Carolina, and is onsite. It reports to the Engineering Supervisor.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
At least 0 years of experience in Customer Application Engineering or Engineering Design.
Proficiency with AutoCAD (recent version) or an equivalent computer-aided design platform.
Practical familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, SAP, Windchill, and other applicable software.
Experience with 3D design using Creo, SolidWorks, or an equivalent design platform.
Must already have authorization to work in the United States.

Computer-aided design certification or degree.

Responsibilities

Develop mechanical bills of materials (BOMs) for assigned projects.
Release mechanical BOMs to the ERP system for assigned orders.
Create 3D models and drawings for new requisition special designs using Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent platforms.
Create part numbers and drawings for customer doors and panels.
Use 3D modeling to design engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations that meet contractual specifications.
Manage the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and publish new designs.
Create or review engineering drawings, specifications, and plans required for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction.
