About The Position

At MYSTERY RANCH, the Industrial Designer creates and maintains technical documents for MYSTERY RANCH products, communicating key product details and visual callouts to suppliers. The role also provides graphic design support to the Product team for packaging, on-product graphics, internal visual aids and documentation, and technical concept visualization for designers and developers.

The primary focus is 2D design and technical graphics: developing accurate, detail-driven documents from sew samples, bills of materials, and development inputs; translating complex constructions and components into clear visual communication; and revising documents throughout product development, including changes driven by ECRs. The designer also supports graphic design and product development activities, maintains visual consistency, manages production pattern files and visual assets in the PLM system, and helps improve visual inspection criteria and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or Graphic Design, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong 2D illustration skills and advanced proficiency in programs such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
• Strong understanding of soft goods construction techniques.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to accept and apply critical feedback.

Nice To Haves

• More than 2 years of experience in 2D illustration, graphic design, or technical design within a product or manufacturing environment.
• Personal interest in outdoor pursuits.

Responsibilities

• Develop color-accurate, detail-driven technical documents from sew samples, BOMs, and development inputs.
• Translate complex constructions, components, and sub-assemblies into clear visual communication.
• Revise and update technical documents throughout the development cycle, including ECR-driven changes.
• Standardize visual systems, layouts, and illustration conventions across product lines and platforms.
• Collaborate with Product and Quality teams to improve the technical-document and visual-layout process.
• Create packaging graphics, instructional manuals, guidelines, training tools, technical concept visualizations, and on-product graphics.
• Maintain and evolve the brand’s visual design language in technical and product-facing assets.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Product teams to align internal and external visual materials.
• Support Industrial Designers with 2D illustrations for design reviews as needed.
• Manage and upload production pattern files and visual assets within the PLM system and appropriate virtual locations.
• Assist QA/QC teams in improving visual inspection criteria and documentation clarity.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing defects through improved visual instructions and clarification.
