Senior Industrial Designer
About The Position
The Senior Industrial Designer at Tekna develops solutions that address identified user needs while helping clients meet their business objectives. Solutions may use market, ergonomic, and user-scenario research; sketching; rendering; study models; computer models; and final production-quality prototypes. The designer works closely with Design and Engineering Leads to understand client objectives and help define project approaches and strategies. Tekna provides design consulting, contract manufacturing, and original equipment manufacturing services across medical, life science, consumer, and industrial product categories. Its cross-functional teams include Design Engineering, Industrial Design, CAD, Procurement, Production, and Quality. Requirements
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design (BSID).
- 3–5 years of experience in corporate or consulting environments.
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- High skill level in fundamental design tools and practices.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Design and Engineering Leads to scope projects and understand clients’ business objectives.
- Assist in developing project work approaches and strategies.
- Participate in and lead a variety of research activities.
- Apply a high skill level in fundamental design tools and practices.
- Maintain customers’ corporate look and feel through material selection, color palettes, specific design elements, or form vocabulary.
- Develop solutions using research, sketching, rendering, study models, computer models, and production-quality prototypes.
