The Senior Industrial Designer leads design direction on complex client programs, translating user needs and engineering constraints into compelling products. The role collaborates with engineers, project managers, and clients from early concept through production intent, while helping establish the team’s design standards and mentoring other designers. It is suited to an experienced industrial designer from a product development environment who enjoys hands-on product design and raising the standard of craft for a growing team. Programs may span consumer, medical, industrial, and connected hardware. The position leads concept generation, sets and defends design direction, balances function, usability, aesthetics, and manufacturability, and guides physical and digital prototyping. It partners with cross-functional teams to address early development constraints, leads client communications and presentations, and conducts market and user research. The designer owns Class-A surfacing within production-intent CAD in partnership with engineering on DFM, and manages design tasks and timelines across concurrent programs. The role also mentors industrial designers, helps evolve and uphold the firm’s design standard, and shares knowledge of industry trends, materials, and manufacturing processes. Success means communicating clear design direction, accounting for engineering and manufacturing constraints early, handing off production-intent designs cleanly, building client confidence, delivering work on schedule, and helping other designers grow. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Product. Glassboard is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
