About The Position

As an Associate Freight Sales Representative, you will learn the fundamentals of freight sales and third-party freight procurement through an extended training and development period. You will begin by managing a smaller assigned region while building the skills needed to identify and secure freight opportunities and develop strong relationships with freight brokers and shippers. As your knowledge and experience grow, you will take on greater ownership and responsibility, preparing you for progression into the Freight Sales Representative role.

Requirements

Four-year college degree or equivalent Dot Foods Experience
Excellent verbal and written communication
Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills
Effective problem-solving skills
Aptitude for strong selling and negotiating skills

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree emphasized in logistics, supply-chain management, sales, or transportation
Knowledge of federal guidelines on carriers and inter/intrastate commerce
Ability to elicit desired behavior change with internal and external customers and vendors

Responsibilities

Learn to identify and procure third-party freight opportunities from brokers and shippers to support business and transportation needs.
Manage a smaller assigned region while developing knowledge of freight markets, pricing, capacity, and operational needs.
Build and maintain strong relationships with freight brokers, shippers, and internal business partners.
Develop negotiation and decision-making skills by evaluating freight opportunities, rates, service expectations, and operational fit.
Complete an extended training and development period, taking on increased responsibility and a broader scope as knowledge and proficiency grow.
