About The Position

This position will conduct technical and specialized scientific research with high resolution mass spectrometry; developing new methodology; analyzing data; and managing a scientific user facility.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in analytical chemistry specializing in mass spectrometry or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience operating mass spectrometry instrumentation in a research or analytical laboratory.
  • Knowledge of mass spectrometry methods and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, develop, optimize, and validate experimental methods for varied applications.
  • Demonstrate job-related experience with fostering a welcoming and respectful work environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of both liquid chromatography and gas chromatography; sample introduction methods; and sample preparation methods.
  • Experience managing staff and with lab safety procedures.
  • A PhD degree in analytical chemistry specializing in mass spectrometry or related field.
  • Proven experience with MS instrumentation (e.g., LC-MS/MS, high-resolution MS), including troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Successful funding of multi-user shared instrumentation grants or other research grants.
