About The Position

If you are a dynamic, relational professional energized by supporting strategic industry and community partnerships, Colby College invites you to apply for this Associate Director (“AD”) opportunity with the highly-visible, nationally-regarded DavisConnects team! Reporting to and serving as a thought partner for the Director, Industry and Community Partnerships, the Associate Director will steward industry relationships and career opportunities (e.g. externships, internships, research, immersion experiences or treks, and employment opportunities) for the benefit of Colby students across majors while collaborating with the multidisciplinary Labs, Centers and Institutes to leverage the many experiential learning and post-graduate opportunities they are developing. This role proactively manages the day to day operations of the department including digital systems, procedures, event management, and stakeholder engagement. The hiring range for this position is $55,000 - $63,200.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communication, human resources, marketing, higher education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible professional experience.
  • Prior related experience cultivating partnerships with a diverse range of constituencies.
  • Minimum of five (5)years related professional experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and articulate the value of a liberal arts education to current and prospective employers and community partners.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills which will allow the Associate Director to present confidently to employers and interact credibly with the Colby community.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional detail-orientation and organizational competencies.
  • Proficiency and experience using technology (i.e. Microsoft office, Google Suite) and effectively leveraging social media.
  • The ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies.
  • Valid driver’s license required and must meet Colby’s Fleet Safety Policy requirements.

  • Prior experience in the staffing, recruiting, human resources, communications or career services industries strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Director, own and steward relationships with current and potential employers and community partners with exceptional hospitality and professionalism.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal partners (e.g. faculty, coaches, and professional staff) and external stakeholders (e.g. alumni, parents and recruiting teams) to ensure inclusion and access to pathway preparation and recruiting at Colby.
  • In collaboration with the Career Design Advising Team, educate students and the internal stakeholders who support them, about industry- and opportunity-specific approaches to the opportunity-search process, including guidance on resumes, cover letters, and interview techniques into which the Associate Director has insights because of their work with employers.
  • In partnership with DavisConnects’ data stewards, collect and maintain data pertaining to the success of students and alumni in securing undergraduate and post-graduate experiences, employer engagement data and other relevant metrics using available tools and resources (e.g. Handshake, LinkedIn, Employer Relations Management tool, ColbyConnection, institutional research data, etc.).
  • Stay up- to-date with industry/employer hiring trends including relevant to the current and future workplace.
  • Ensure that all members of Colby’s global alumni, parent, and employer network receive impeccable customer service in the execution of educational and recruiting events, both on and off campus (information sessions, interviews, immersion experiences and treks, etc.).
  • Organize, schedule, and take responsibility for end to end execution of events both large and small supporting employer events on campus and in the community with the support of DavisConnects’ Administrative and Program Coordinator.
  • Help facilitate employer- and industry-related workshops and programs for students in collaboration with other DavisConnects team members (e.g. Career Design Advising Team, Fellowships Office, etc.), including industry-focused alumni panels, off-campus industry immersion experiences (e.g. off-campus job treks and opportunities to explore career industries across the US), and topical workshops and industry forums.
  • Partner and steward relationships with NESCAC and CBB (Colby, Bates, Bowdoin) colleagues to create events of interest for students across combined campuses.
  • Design and execute marketing and communication campaigns in collaboration with the DavisConnects’ Administrative and Student Worker teams promoting events.
  • Capture event data including attendance, outcomes, feedback and other queries.
  • With the support of the Administrative and Program Coordinator, promote opportunities across all digital platforms, to campus communities, in the newsletter, and to other groups as needed to be inclusive of all students.
  • With the support of DavisConnects’ administrative and student worker team, take ownership of the implementation and management of data systems and technologies (e.g., Handshake, PeopleGrove, Interstride) to streamline the departmental efforts of job/internship, and event postings.
  • Manage internship for credit approvals with the Director of Global Experience Funding and Resource Management.
  • Contribute to the content of the DavisConnects’ resource library, website, and on-demand resources.
  • Partner with DavisConnects teams to ensure events are aligned for maximal impact to students, alumni/employer/labs partnerships are fully stewarded, and efforts are not duplicative.
  • Meet with students as needed to expertly guide professional development, resume writing, etc.
