About The Position

The Associate Director of Field Operations is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing all field operations activities within assigned territories or markets. This role ensures operational excellence through strong leadership, workforce development, strategic planning, customer relationship management, and execution of company objectives. The Associate Director of Field Operations is accountable for ensuring field operations are completed safely, efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with customer expectations, company standards, and regulatory requirements. This position provides leadership and oversight to Field Managers, Area Supervisors, Field Specialists, and field employees while fostering a culture aligned with company mission, vision, and values. This role supports operational performance, employee development, succession planning, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement initiatives, and long-term operational growth across all assigned markets.

Responsibilities

  • Spearheads and oversees the daily field operations of a company, including its other sites within a defined territory map.
  • Makes significant decisions based on extensive research and reviews while adhering to company standards and regulations.
  • Oversees the department's employment and training procedures.
  • Develops sales strategies.
  • Sets objectives and guidelines.
  • Establishes budgets.
  • Builds positive relationships with potential business partners.
  • Leads and empowers staff in a joint effort to reach department goals.
  • Directly oversees multiple Field Managers and field leadership teams across assigned territories.
  • Leads, mentors, develops, and evaluates Field Managers, Area Supervisors, Field Specialists, and field personnel.
  • Conducts regular one-on-one meetings, coaching sessions, annual performance reviews, and corrective action procedures.
  • Develops succession plans and maintains leadership bench strength to support operational growth.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, onboards, trains, and retains field operations personnel.
  • Fosters a positive, high-accountability work environment focused on teamwork, safety, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Leads weekly and monthly operational meetings with field leadership teams.
  • Partners with Human Resources regarding employee relations, investigations, performance management, and corrective actions.
  • Supports cross-functional operational initiatives and Operations Services Center leadership.
  • Oversees and supports all field operations activities within assigned territories.
  • Ensures successful planning, coordination, and execution of field operations according to operational and customer requirements.
  • Monitors operational progress and adjusts plans as necessary to meet deadlines, quality standards, safety expectations, and business objectives.
  • Allocates field resources effectively to maximize operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Develops and implements operational standards, procedures, goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintains staffing levels and operational readiness to support customer demand and business growth.
  • Supports and drives continuous improvement initiatives across field operations.
  • Spends significant time in the field building employee and customer relationships while ensuring operational excellence.
  • Builds and maintains strong client relationships at both operational and senior management levels.
  • Serves as a primary escalation point for operational and customer issues.
  • Identifies and communicates business development opportunities to the Business Development team.
  • Supports customer retention, operational consistency, and overall service quality.
  • Ensures all field operations comply with company policies, customer requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conducts regular field inspections, quality assurance reviews, and work zone observations to ensure safety and operational compliance.
  • Assists the Safety Department with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and fact-finding processes.
  • Promotes a strong safety culture and ensures adherence to all safety standards and operational best practices.
  • Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), operational metrics, staffing levels, and financial performance.
  • Establishes, manages, and tracks operational budgets, forecasts, labor utilization, and project performance.
  • Prepares operational reports, forecasts, incident documentation, and performance updates for executive leadership.
  • Supports operational efficiency and profitability initiatives across assigned markets.
  • Supports storm response operations and travels as necessary to support company operations across markets.
  • Attends trade shows, leadership meetings, training sessions, and quarterly corporate meetings as required.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
