About The Position

PATH is seeking candidates passionate about helping others make a positive change in their lives to join our Facilities Management & Operations team as the Associate Director of Facilities & Safety at the RHC Office. Since its foundation in 1984, PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing. As part of the Facilities Management & Operations team, the Associate Director of Facilities & Safety reports to the Senior Director, Facilities & Operations and is responsible for portfolio-level oversight of facilities performance, Regional Facilities leadership, asset management, and safety governance across the organization. This role operates within a shared Facilities & Operations model, partnering closely with the Associate Director, Maintenance & Fleet to ensure alignment between portfolio priorities, operational execution, and agency-wide safety requirements. This role establishes operational standards, drives consistency across sites, and ensures regulatory compliance and risk mitigation. The position serves as Safety Co-Chair for the entire organization, ensuring adherence to all applicable life safety, OSHA, CARF, and other regulatory standards across all sites.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience managing and scaling facilities operations across large, multi-site portfolios, of which at least three (3) years must include direct leadership of managers or regional teams (certification a plus).
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience managing managers or regional teams
  • One (1) year of facilities experience within a medical, hospital, or mental health setting
  • Have employment eligibility verification
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
  • Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire: Tuberculosis Test, Background Screening, Drug Test
  • Have reliable transportation
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
  • The ability to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Life Safety, Fire Safety, or Environmental Safety, or licensure as a General Contractor
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFM, FMP, CSP)
  • Certification in electrical or plumbing maintenance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • In tandem with Sr. Director of Facilities & Operations this position will Interview, hire, train, and supervise Regional Facilities Operations Managers and our Safety Team
  • Lead and develop Regional Facilities Operations Managers to strengthen portfolio-wide operational capability, performance, and accountability
  • Establish and enforce facilities standards, SOPs, and governance frameworks across all sites
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance management to Regional Facilities leadership
  • Partner with Associate Director, Maintenance & Fleet to ensure maintenance execution aligns with site priorities and operational needs
  • Escalate systemic performance issues to Senior Director as needed
  • Own asset lifecycle planning, capital repair prioritization, and long-term facility strategy
  • Guide repair vs. replace decisions and capital investment planning
  • Partner with Maintenance to validate execution feasibility, resource capacity, and prioritization alignment
  • Partner with Finance and Senior Director on budgeting and capital forecasting
  • Provide -operational oversight of safety, risk management, and emergency preparedness programs across the facilities portfolio
  • Lead and oversee EHS leadership to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CARF, NFPA, and other governing agencies, as well as timely and accurate reporting
  • Serve as the Facilities Department representative and Co-Chair of PATH’s Safety Committee, providing leadership, governance, and cross-functional alignment on safety strategy and initiatives
  • Ensure consistent implementation and performance of safety programs, monitoring practices, training, and emergency preparedness activities across all sites
