The Associate Director, Market Research – Systemic Mastocytosis (SM) will be a crucial member of the Insights and Analytics (I&A) team, focusing on providing market and customer insights through market research to guide strategic and tactical decisions for Sanofi's Systemic Mastocytosis portfolio, starting with AYVAKIT and future pipeline products. This role requires a strategic partnership with Sanofi Commercial leadership, utilizing advanced market research methodologies to maximize the potential of the SM portfolio. The position reports to the Director, Insights & Analytics – Systemic Mastocytosis (SM) and is based in Cambridge, MA or Morristown, NJ.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech market research (experience can be at a manufacturer or a consulting firm).
  • Strong primary market research capabilities with an understanding of various methodologies (quantitative, qualitative, and agile approaches).
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead multiple market research workstreams compliantly and in a timely manner.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with a deep understanding of the life-sciences industry.
  • Knowledge of secondary/syndicated pharmaceutical data sources (prescription data, patient claims data, promotional audits).
  • Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels, including senior leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, MD, PhD) preferred.
  • Prior experience on US Commercial launches, preferably with 2+ years focused on Rare Disease, Immunology, and/or Oncology.
  • Experience working with related functions (New Product Planning, Marketing, Value & Access).
  • Vendor management experience in the insights/market research space.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to be a highly relied upon strategic thought partner.
  • Ability to influence key decision-makers in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of insights.
  • High degree of curiosity, driven to solve problems through analytical and emotional reasoning.
  • Strong work ethic and personal motivation.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate a highly relevant and impactful insight agenda for the US Systemic Mastocytosis business, proactively identifying needs and recommending effective solutions.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the US Commercial team, leveraging a strong understanding of external context and customer needs to inform business decisions related to launch readiness, brand strategy, and stakeholder communications.
  • Support standard US Commercial business processes, including performance tracking and demand forecasting, incorporating competitive insights.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships within a matrixed internal environment (US commercial, I&A team, Global) and coordinate projects.
  • Develop and manage relationships with the Insights vendor community to innovate high-quality workstreams, designing, executing, and reporting on market research studies that deliver actionable insights.
  • Effectively manage projects, driving collaboration between internal and external teams throughout the process from vision to reporting.
  • Communicate data and insights clearly and concisely, with a focus on customer needs and a clear call to action tailored to specific audiences.
  • Collaborate with other functions (e.g., forecasting, analytics, patient services) to deliver integrated insights and recommendations.
  • Operationalize insight workstreams on time, within budget, and compliantly.
  • Act as an insights subject matter expert, leading and developing colleagues where applicable.
