About The Position

The Head of Internal Communications (Associate Director) is responsible for leading Clorox’s enterprise internal communications strategy and execution ensuring teammates (employees) are informed, engaged, and connected to our purpose, strategy, and business priorities. This role serves as a senior strategic advisor to executive leaders, shaping how we communicate the most critical enterprise moments to our most important stakeholders – our people. The role drives alignment across the organization and strengthens our transformation at scale. The role leads a high-performing internal communications center of excellence, with accountability for internal executive communications, enterprise messaging, and teammate engagement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, with significant focus on internal communications
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-level communications strategies in complex organizations
  • Experience advising and supporting senior executives, including CEO-level communications
  • People management experience; strong people leadership skills to support growth and development of the team.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and ability to translate business strategy into clear, actionable communication
  • Proven crisis communications experience – advising senior leaders in crisis situations; developing and executing crisis plans to engage internal audiences.
  • Outstanding writing, storytelling, and verbal communications skills
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Proven ability to influence across senior leaders and navigate ambiguity
  • High judgment and ability to manage sensitive, high-stakes communications

Responsibilities

  • Defines and leads the company’s internal communications strategy aligned to enterprise priorities, company’s purpose and values, and business performance.
  • Develops strong relationships with functional and business leaders; identifies communications needs and establishes strategic plans and tactical implementation of those plans.
  • Anticipates communications needs and leads proactive planning for key enterprise moments and transformations; creates an integrated narrative and roadmap that clearly links business priorities with individual performance.
  • Advises and works with CEO and other senior executives to drive strategic internal communications through a drumbeat of regular touch points and through global town halls, quarterly earnings announcements, annual anniversary recognition events and leadership meetings.
  • Shapes messaging that drives clarity, trust, and action across the organization.
  • Develops strong messaging platforms, templates and tools to assist senior leaders with their town halls, team communications and recognition events.
  • Designs communications that reinforce Clorox’s purpose, values, and culture.
  • Drives engagement strategies and tactics that build understanding, alignment, and connection across global teams.
  • Partners with HR to support performance, employee listening, and change initiatives.
  • Develops an annual plan and calendar that supports annual HR processes including benefits open enrollment, performance management review cycles, and career development opportunities.
  • Develops templates, tools and processes used by HR leaders to directly conduct strategic communications at a functional or local level.
  • Provides communications resources to help managers drive teammate understanding of company strategies, business priorities, values and behaviors.
  • Translations corporate strategies into actionable functional or business unit priorities.
  • Develops and promotes adoption of communication channels to spark manager dialog with teammates at the functional and business unit level.
  • Partners across HR, Investor Relations, Legal, Business Units, and Transformation teams to drive consistent enterprise narrative and strong employee experience (in-person and digital).
  • Acts as a central integrator during high-priority or high-risk enterprise communications.
  • Serves as a key member of the corporate communications leadership team for issues management and crisis response.
  • Builds, leads, and develops a high-performing internal communications team.
  • Sets clear priorities, ensures disciplined execution, and drives accountability for results.
  • Serves as a member of the corporate communications leadership team – informs overall communications strategy.
