HKA•Chicago, IL
•$110,000 - $145,000•Hybrid

About The Position

HKA is seeking an experienced eDiscovery Project Manager to independently lead complex litigation, regulatory, and investigative matters in a client-facing consulting environment. This hands-on role requires ownership of matters, direct work with counsel and senior stakeholders, and sound decision-making where accuracy and production risk matter. The position combines deep Relativity aiR (formerly RelativityOne) expertise with client leadership across technical delivery, project coordination, and practical guidance. The role is hybrid and open to candidates within commuting distance of HKA offices in Chicago, Atlanta, or Washington, DC. It offers meaningful ownership and the opportunity to influence how matters are managed alongside experienced legal and technical professionals.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of eDiscovery experience, including independent ownership of complex matters or major workstreams.
  • At least 2 years of client-facing consulting experience with attorneys, clients, and senior stakeholders.
  • Deep, hands-on Relativity aiR (RelativityOne, RelOne) experience across workspace administration, searches, review workflows, analytics, exports, productions, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to translate counsel instructions into accurate, defensible productions with documented quality control and approval steps.
  • Strong knowledge of the eDiscovery lifecycle, ESI, processing, review, metadata, privilege, production formats, and chain of custody.
  • Executive presence and sound judgment to lead calls, manage expectations, explain technical issues, and escalate risk.
  • Ability to manage multiple fast-moving matters with strong organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Relativity certification.
  • Experience with advanced review technologies such as generative AI, technology-assisted review, continuous active learning, email threading, near-duplicate detection, or clustering.
  • Experience creating eDiscovery playbooks, templates, or other process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead eDiscovery matters from scoping and data identification through processing, review, production, and closeout.
  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Relativity aiR workspaces, including permissions, searches, analytics, review workflows, exports, productions, and quality-control processes.
  • Respond to attorney and client requests, prioritize competing needs, and maintain continuity so matters can be handed off without loss of context.
  • Translate legal instructions, ESI protocols, and production requirements into defensible searches, workflows, specifications, and deliverables.
  • Manage production workflows, attending to scope, format, metadata, privilege, confidentiality, and counsel approval before release.
  • Create and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, trackers, process notes, decision logs, production specifications, and quality-control records.
  • Identify risks, scope changes, data gaps, and potential errors early; communicate them clearly and escalate material issues appropriately.
  • Lead client calls, clarify requirements, explain technical processes in practical terms, and provide clear status updates and recommendations.
  • Coordinate attorneys, clients, analysts, reviewers, technical professionals, and vendors across multiple concurrent matters.
  • Provide direction and quality review to analysts, consultants, and reviewers, and help less-experienced team members join active matters.
